The Admissions Process

Our admissions process is designed to help us get to know each athlete and family while ensuring ISM Basketball Academy is the right fit for everyone involved.

Whether you’re a local student, relocating from another state, or joining us from abroad, our team is here to guide you every step of the way. We welcome qualified student-athletes entering Grades 8–12 who are ready to invest in their potential and become part of The Pack.

Basketball evaluation

Prospective student-athletes may be invited to submit game film, attend a workout, or participate in an evaluation with our coaching staff.

Qualified applicants complete the admissions process for The International School of Minnesota, including academic records and any required documentation.

Enrollment

Once accepted, families will receive enrollment information and begin preparing for the upcoming season.

ISM Basketball Academy welcomes boarding students from across the United States and around the world. Students live in ISM’s supervised residence hall, where they benefit from a supportive community, structured study time, and easy access to campus, training facilities, and school resources.

Eligibility

Who We're Looking For

ISM is not for everyone — and that’s by design. We recruit character first, talent second. Every player who walks through our doors must meet the following criteria.
  • Ages 15–19 (grades 9–12 or post-graduate)
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA with commitment to improving academically
  • Demonstrated basketball ability at the varsity or AAU level
  • Strong character references from coaches, teachers, or mentors
  • Willingness to embrace team culture, discipline, and accountability
  • Aspiration to compete at the NCAA Division I, II, or III level
  • Valid passport or documentation for international students
  • Physical clearance and current health records on file

Domestic Students

U.S.-based players must provide a high school transcript, proof of current enrollment, and a letter of good standing from their current institution.

International Students

We provide full support for international enrollment including F-1 student visa guidance, SEVIS registration, ESL placement testing, and cultural orientation.

Transfer Players

Players transferring mid-year are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. A 30-day academic probation period ensures smooth academic transition before joining team activities.

Post-Graduate Players

PG players who have completed high school but are not yet college-ready may apply for our one-year post-graduate development program with dedicated college counseling.
